I am surprised by the lack of comments: here is the complete draft of Alice, two more posts left, and a total of 18 comments including my responses. This does not make for a good dialogue, folks!

    Hi Hans,
    I think there's an error here. Page 134 enlarges to be the same as page 126.

    A recent lunch with Mark Mayerson prompted a conversation about these sheets. A although it's probably unfair of me to talk for Mark, it's probably accurate to say that neither of us is really overwhelmed by this feature, as a whole.

    Mark loves the Mad Hatter sequence, and I love many very short bits such as the sequence wherein Alice, in the real world, lies among the flowers or the Cheshire cat conversations.
    I'm probably more intrigued by the staging than I am in love with the animation. I do think most of the staging in this film, as a whole, is extraordinary.

    I have been closely watching Hal Ambro's scenes, lately. It's interesting that he only seems to have had Alice scenes in this film. Oftentimes, they're few and far apart from each other chronologically. I'm trying to work out some ideas I have about his animation, and these sheets have been a goldmine for me in this regard. Thanks many for sharing them.

    Mike, it is not my favorite either, but I find it is certainly important to know who did what.

    One of my very favorite Alice "items" is the Camerata LP, as it has some of the most wonderful arrangements on record. But that is hardly the movie...

    Ive loved DISNEYS ALICE FOR FORTY YEARS AND HAVE A LARGE COLLECTION OF CHARCTER MERCHANDISE FROM THE 1951
    RELEASE-IT WOULD BE INTRESTING TO SE EIF A JABBERWOCK SEQUENCE WAS EVER
    STORYBOARDED OR OUTLINED..THANKS FOR THIS POST..I NEVER KNOW THE FILM WAS RELEASED SO CLOSE TO THE END OF PRODUCTION...

The First Hyperion Ave. Studio

I used to wonder where precisely Walt Disney's first 2719 Hyperion Ave. studio was located, and what it looked like. Since reading about it first in the 1970s in Dave Smith's article in Michael Barrier's great Funnyworld, I spent hours looking at photos, aerial photographs, maps etc, until I found I had a pretty good impression. My aim here is to pass some of that on to you, as I have found there was an interest in this since I posted this image of the staff with their new Charlotte Clark dolls on my Facebook page: Looking through Cecil Munsey's Disneyana, it appears to me that the "funny looking" Mickey with the button eyes is actually an example of the 1930 British-made pose-able Mickey by the Dean's Rag Book company of London. Miffy the Movie in cinemas in Holland!

Finally, the film I directed called " nijntje de film " ( miffy the movie ) has gone into general release in 118 cinemas in Holland today! As you can imagine, I am very proud of this film. Interestingly, the reviews are split in two: the ones where the reviewer saw the film WITH a children's audience all give the film four out of five stars, while the ones who have NOT seen the film with kids give it three out of five, and mention "I doubt if the film can keep the young audience captivated." The "four star" reviewers note that it can - that the film "works!" In the Dutch TV guide Troskompas , in the very first review published a week ago, I found a very clear view on this: the reviewer wrote that he feels he has no way of judging the film, but as his kid loved it and was entertained all the way, he could not but give the film four stars.
