Prod. 2005 - Reluctant Dragon Story (I)

As an example of the driving force that was Walt Disney, here is the first part of the notes to the 7/24/1940 story meeting on The Reluctant Dragon, from T. Hee's onion-skin originals.
The following week would see the last meeting before animation was cast and animation began.

So... Kaj Nielsen did concepts for the dragon's cave...
I'd like to see those!

  1. The more I read about T.Hee and the more I look into his career, the more interested I am in him.
I've always been aware of his original and beautiful style of caricature, but I've become more interested, lately, in his writing. There's a lot there.
    He's someone I wish I'd met.

  2. One of the interesting things about Hee is how he is treated in Bill Peet's autobiography. Peet clearly didn't like him and didn't like him enough to try and settle a score with him in print.

Peet is the only negative opinion of Hee I'm aware of, though.

  3. Paul Julian was also a skeptic; see page 527 of Hollywood Cartoons.
